In some circumstances, the best way to protect the legal rights of parents who used donated egg, sperm, and/or embryos to build their family is to pursue a confirmatory step-parent adoption or parentage action. The process varies by county and generally occurs following the birth of the child. As of this time, we limit this practice to certain counties in Ohio.
